Project: Revive a Sunnah

July 7, 2010

Over the coming weeks and months I will Insha’Allah post up a forgotten/neglected Sunnah for us all to start implementing. Every Friday I will post up a new Sunnah giving us a week to introduce it to our daily routines.

The Importance of the Sunnah

It goes without saying that our only way to Jannah is to follow the footsteps of our beloved Prophet (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam). He came to teach us or deen and is the most perfect example, as Allah says:

لَقَدْ كَانَ لَكُمْ فِي رَسُولِ اللَّهِ أُسْوَةٌ حَسَنَةٌ لِمَنْ كَانَ يَرْجُو اللَّهَ وَالْيَوْمَ الآخِرَ وَذَكَرَ اللَّهَ كَثِيرًا

Indeed in the Messenger of Allah (Muhammad sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) you have a good example to follow for him who hopes in (the Meeting) Allah and the Last Day and remembers Allah much. [Surat al-Ahzab, 33:21]

Reviving the Sunnah

The Prophet (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) said:

“Whoever revives an aspect of my Sunnah that is forgotten after my death, he will have a reward equivalent to that of the people who follow him, without it detracting in the least from their reward.” [al-Tirmidhi]

Action Points

  • Drop by the blog every Friday and start reviving a Sunnah of the Prophet (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam). Share your thoughts, comments and encouragement for others.
  • If you would like to see a particular Sunnah posted you can email me and Insha’Allah it will posted up – earning you lots of reward.
  • Make intention for these Sunnahs to become part of your daily routine, not just for a week or two, but for life!

The Eternal Journey

January 26, 2010

Asalaamu Alaykum wa Rahmatullah wa barakatahu

As some of you may be aware a few of us are attending a double weekend Al-Maghrib seminar called, “The Eternal Journey” taught by Shaykh Reda Bedeir. The course is uncovering the ways in which the Qur’an is the ultimate guide in our journey to the Hereafter.

We have just finished our first weekend and Alhamdulillah it has been amazing! We have gained so much from it already, and can’t wait for the second weekend. The full weekend was  spent in the company of 100’s of other Muslims…we were all there for the same reason, to learn more about our deen. We studied together, prayed together, ate together…it truly was an imaan boost!

We were inspired so much, we want to share the things we learnt and made an impact on us. Over the next few weeks we will be posting *gems* on the blog…so please keep regularly checking, and we pray that you will benefit from them as did we.

Oh Bearer of the Qur’an

October 28, 2009

O bearer of the Qur’an! The Most Gracious has chosen you,

with grace and crowns, and with life and satisfaction.

O constant reciter of The Remembrance and The Revelation!

Your glad tidings on the day of departure (is that) soon you will win with the forgiveness.

O reciter of ayaat in assemblies and in solitudes,

The heavens swagger with you and the universe swoon over you.

Memorising Qur'an

As salaamu alaykum

So it’s been a while since the blog has been updated. Apologies for that.

Just to let you know what’s been happening and what we have planned:

Young Muslimahs Performance. Alhamdulillah it went brilliantly. Well done to the YMs girls. I know me and baji Nazia got a bit stressed out with you lot, but seriously you did us proud! You guys are professionals masha’Allah.

Would also like to say jazakum’Allah khayr to all those who attended. I hope that you had an enjoyable day. And also a special mention to everyone who helped out on the day. Jazakum’Allah khayr.

Ramadhan prep. The sahabah would prepare for Ramadhan months in advance. They would make dua to Allah to forgive them and pray that when Ramadhan came they were in the best of Iman.

If we want to make the best of this Ramadhan, then we need to start preparing for it. Not tomorrow, not next week… right now!

Over the next couple of weeks the blog will be updated with posts relating to Ramadhan. Tips and suggestions on how to make the most our time and how we can work together to prepare for the month so that when it comes we don’t waste a single second!

Juzz Amma Challenge is drawing to an end.  To those who stuck to it to the very end (and let me tell you there weren’t many), may Allah reward you guys immensely. You’re the ones Allah chose to memorise His book. Whether you completed the challange or not, remember this is the begining of your journey. What brilliant preperation for Ramadhan. Stick to it, aim high, surah by surah, juzz by juzz until you have memorised the whole Qur’an (bi’idhnillah!).
