Want to raise your rank in Jannah?

Time to take ACTION. No ifs and buts, no lame excuses, just pure determination to raise your rank in Jannah!

The Juzz Amma Challenge – What is it?!

The Prophet said: “The one who was devoted to the Qur’an will be told on the Day of Resurrection: ‘Recite and ascend (in ranks) as you used to recite when you were in the world. Your rank will be at the last ayah you recite.’”[Abu Dawud]

This hadith is telling us that those who memorised the Qur’an will be asked on the Day of Judgment to recite that which they had memorised and as they do so their rank in Jannah will be raised. So, the more you know, they higher up in Jannah you go!

There is such tremendous reward for reciting the Qur’an and even more so for memorising it. On the Day of Judgement not only will the Qur’an cause our ranks to be raised in Jannah, it will intercede on our behalf, saving us from the fire of Hell.

There are so many of us out there who would like to memorise the Qur’an (or at least parts of it), but how many of us actually take the necessary action? Saying you want to memorise the Qur’an is not enough, you have to ACT to make that goal a reality.

So let’s throw away all our excuses, stop being lazy and step up and take the challenge. Let’s memorise Juzz Amma, me, you and everyone else who is brave enough, all working together for the sake of Allah. Let’s do it and raise our rank in Jannah.

Why Juzz Amma?

Juzz Amma (30th Para) is the last portion of the Qur’an. It consists of fairly short surahs that are easy to memorise. All those who begin their journey in memorising the Qur’an start here and so it is only logical for us to do the same. As well as this, these are the surahs that are commonly recited in salah, so rather than constantly recite Surah al-Ikhlas in our prayer we will be able to vary the surahs and so it will, Insha’Allah help us develop khushu (humility) in our prayer.

How will it work?

This challenge is open to all women, young and old. All that is required is for each participant to register giving details of how much they have already memorised, their level of tajwid and what they aim to achieve etc. Upon registration they will receive a memorisation pack.

They will then be buddied up with someone who is at the same or similar level. Each individual is responsible for motivating and pushing their buddy to the highest possible level. This can be done, for example, through email, phone, meeting up regularly, rewarding their buddy etc. Is very important that you take the responsibility of motivating your buddy and working with them in memorising.

Each participant is encouraged to review their surahs with others. Be that with their buddy, family members or friends. It is advised that you have somebody listening to you to ensure that all mistakes are corrected.

A record of your progress will be logged in daily/weekly/monthly progress tracking sheets which are included in the memorisation pack. These MUST to be filled in. Not only will it give you an idea of your progress, it will keep you motivated and consistent in your memorisation. These sheets are to be taken to the drop in sessions and if you are not able to attend then they can be emailed to Deen, who will be able to give you advice on your progress.

Drop in sessions will take place regularly on Fridays 5 – 6:30 pm, venue to be anounced shortly. This will be a chance for you to review your surahs, raise any concerns and catch up with others who have taken part in the challenge.

There will be check in posts and discussion on the blog. During the period of the challenge the blog will be regularly updated with posts relating to Qur’an memorisation. For example, memorisation tips, tajwid rules, Qur’an recitation audios and videos. All participants are encouraged to visit the blog and participate in the discussions as this will keep you motivated. As well as this a number of useful resources will be posted to aid you in your memorisation.
